Inventure Academy Annual Awards Day

Success is not coming first in the race but giving your best no matter what place. The true spirit behind these lines authored by our student was celebrated on, the 5th Annual Awards day of Inventure Academy held on March 28.

It was also a day for students to showcase their multi-talents on stage be it dance, play, or music in front of the cheering audience comprising of parents, teachers and peers.

Our guests of honor on the occasion were Associate Director of Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) Professor N Balakrishnan and CMD of Prestige group, Irfan Razack, who inspired children with their speech on need for holistic knowledge to be a future ready.

The event started at around 4pm with Professor Balakrishnan, Mr Razack along with CEO and Head of Inventure Academy, Nooraine Fazal lighting the candle of knowledge. Professor Balakrishnan inspired the students, parents and teachers alike by his speech on significance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) where there would be growing need for people with holistic knowledge more than specialists in a field or two. Recalling his young days, Professor Balakrishnan, said, “While 30 years ago, when I joined IISc, a computer had a main memory of just 32 kb, today even a pen drive can carry 320 gigabytes!.”

One of the founders of the world’s largest digital library, Professor Balakrishnan, emphasized the need for integrated education, where there are no borders in acquiring knowledge from subjects of science, engineering, social science or arts. He congratulated Inventure Academy for having nurtured inventive thinking in five years of its formation and also the parents for having chosen this school.

Irfan Razack, also the Chairman and co-founder of Inventure Academy, underlined the changing face of Indian education and the need for freedom of space for young minds to think, grow and excel as individuals and as human beings.

Inventure Academy has won the Titan Genius Kidz Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award on Feb 27th, 2010. The award was specially instituted to recognize the school’s exceptional performance across all categories of entries from Grades 4-10 at the District, State and National level. The Science Exhibition At Inventure Academy-Jan 30th, 2010

ALL IS WELL at Inventure Academy!

Yes I know, the title is derived from one of the catchphrases of 3 Idiots, but I write thus due to the Science Fair held at Inventure by the students of Grade 7, and due to the fact that “health food” was one of the main attractions being offered. Despite these tough economic times, the enterprising students managed to seize the day (as well as a lot of money) in true Inventure fashion, and I can say that parents’ wallets were considerably lighter by the time the ingredients were done and over. There were lots of happy smiles around the place, as you will see in the photos.

Healthy Eating
There were many more attractions being offered as well. Firstly, a gargantuan representation of the basis of chemistry, the Periodic Table, loomed over the scene, providing a welcome shade from the summer heat at Inventure. Though lots of information about the 114 elements was present, some of the elements were more interesting than others. For instance, Rhodium is an element that is a hard and dense silver transition metal and a member of the platinum group and is used in alloys with platinum, symbol is Rh and atomic number 45. Its name comes from the Greek word ‘rhodon’, meaning ‘rose’. Next Strontium, a silvery, soft metallic element with the symbol Sr and atomic number 38. It is highly reactive and turns yellow when exposed to air. It is named after a Scottish village, Strontia. Last but not least, there is “The Poisoner’s Poison’ or Thallium, a soft, grey, malleable poor metal, which resembles tin but discolours when exposed to air, with atomic number 81 and symbol Tl. It has been given its rather ominous sobriquet due to the fact that thallium is highly toxic and is used for murder. Apart from that, thallium is also used in the electronics and glass industries.

Scientists in the making.....
And to conclude this tome of happenings on Friday 30th January 2010, our scientists, Arincheyan Gerald and Karan Abrol were explaining their experiment to find out what makes geckos change color to the bystanders, including myself. And did I mention the PTM running parallel to the event? Oh well, that’s Inventure for you!
