The Giving Tree-Book Review

Title: The Giving Tree
Characters: Tree and the boy
Setting: The forest
Author: Shel Silverstein
Plot: Once there was tree who loved a boy. Every day he would come to gather her leaves to make crowns to play king of the forest. He would climb up her trunk and swing on her branches while he ate apples. He would play hide-and go-seek, and when he was tired, he would sleep in her shade. The boy loved the tree a lot too. The tree was happy but time passed by. The boy grew older and the tree was often alone. Then one day the boy came back and asked for money. She gave him apples instead and told him to sell them to get money. Much later, the boy came back and asked for a house. The tree let him cut off her branches to make a house. A long time later he came back to ask for a boat. The tree let him cut off her trunk to make a boat. After many years the boy came back again but the tree had nothing to offer to the boy except her stump to sit on. The tree and the boy were happy.
